The relationship between Rhoda and Gertrude in The Withered Arm

Please discuss the relationship between Roda and Gertrude in the arms of withering. The withered arm is a book by Thomas Hardy before the 20th century. The conspiracy of the story is around the town of Holmstoke and Castlerbridge in the imagination of the writer. One of the themes of 'Wilted Arm' is the jealousy drawn by Roda Brook who was 'very handsome and once afflicted by Farmer Lodge.' .
