In doubt that Pyle died, Fowler will return to Phuong as if nothing had happened. Later that night the French official Vigot paid Fowler and Phoung and told them that the Pyle was killed. Vigot was not concerned about solving the Pyle's murder, and Phuong could easily proceed after hearing that her fiancee was murdered. This wondered if Fowler was the only one he really care about Pile. When faced with pile and bombing dilemmas, Fowler refused his indifferent qualities and was forced to act with the whole heart to do the right thing.

Women sometimes do not want to do it, but should live a certain kind of life. They always have to stay home to lean on their husbands, do housework, take care of their children and get pregnant. Through the book, Graham Green's "quiet American", the most important theme may be conscience. Conscience is the ability to distinguish whether a person's behavior is right or wrong. Fowler is a middle-aged British. He tried to satisfy the feelings that life like a loyal mistress or a quiet home gave to him, but Fawler's conscience was actually afflicted by this past relationship and participation being influenced. But 50 deads caused him to take action. Fowler considered himself a person who had no opinion; he did not present his own idea or opinion to the incident or the like. He used Phuong to suck opium because he thought that he would make it appear more like an Oriental and not more emotional. Fowler wanted Phuong because she did not ask much, she gave him everything from drugs to sex to him. Pyle is a 30-year-old American awarded the title "Quiet American".
