The Problem of Poverty in Famine, Affluence, and Morality by Peter Singer

Peter singer is often considered one of the most productive and influential philosophers of the present age. He is known for discussing serious social, economic and political issues, including poverty and famine. Singer (1972) discusses how poverty and hunger, and developed countries handle it, in his "famine, prosperity, and morality". Singer thinks that charitable activities and morals are inseparable and there is no distinction between charity and obligation.

In 1972, a young philosopher Peter Singer announced "famine, prosperity and morality" and quickly became one of the most widely discussed papers in applied ethics. Throughout this article, Singer expressed his view that we have the same moral obligation as those far from us. We believe that choosing not to send lives to the hungry people on the other side of the earth is morally equivalent to ignoring drowning children. If we can help, we have to do - and any excuses are hypocritical. Shin's extreme position on the moral obligation to others has been a call for powerful weapons and continues to challenge people's attitude towards extreme poverty. Today is also the central presence of a man who thinks that we should help other people than us.

In "famine, prosperity, and morality", Peter Singer discusses people who are dying because of lack of food, shelter, medical care in Bangladesh. Singer discussed in detail how poverty and war caused many refugees who need millions of people to take advantage of them. Singer argues that countries and countries such as Australia and the UK have offered considerable assistance but have provided adequate aid. Singer believes that we have an obligation to prevent disasters such as hunger and poverty unless we ask us to sacrifice what is important as well. Again, singer's main assertion is "to sacrifice something bad, without sacrificing moral importance, you should do it morally" (Singer, page 231 ).
