The Privilege of Voting

This election cycle was particularly intense for many of us, from open interactions between candidates and their party officials to mutual attacks that voters can find on social media.

The behavior of voters has recently been a concern for the media and more focused. Most of them are noisy, but the story resonating with me is those who are not planning to vote. This is one of the reasons that I am very worried about.

I try to distinguish anger, anxiety spreading during the election season and self-positive behavior of the vote itself. As a meditation teacher, I emphasize the necessity of voting, as well as being forced to vote.

It is somewhat strange to link spirituality to voting, especially in countries where religion is the cause of policy-related conflict in political debates. But the beliefs I thought in voting were completely nonparticipating. This is about admitting that voting is a form of great freedom we give; we can choose to participate in our lives, the lives of others, and the results throughout the country. Each of our influence on results may be incremental, but it exists and is an important element of change. In this way, all the choices that we choose to act will have a major impact - the future, the future of our world.

Many years ago, acquaintance told me in the election cycle: "Differences between candidates often makes people feel that people are not so important." I wonder what she is talking about I do not remember. But in any detail, I think that even minor differences in what we have chosen during the election or whenever we choose are extremely important. In this case, the recognition of candidates' education may not be a high-risk issue, but there is a possibility that other people (perhaps millions) will have a big influence. In Australia, all citizens are registered to vote, and if you do not vote you will actually pay a fine. I like this model, but I can choose here, but I really recommend not paying attention to voting as a privilege rather than a chore.

Voting is privilege. This is the fact that we are showing our commitment to ourselves and to the world against each other.

I vote because I believe that people authorized and privileged in this country are responsible for voting to change the system so that everyone has power and voting rights. In this country, we are proud to be representative democrats and people for people. This is very annoying when you see how many people are deprived of their rights. Voting is really exciting for me. I did not vote for elementary school. I am very disappointed with the idea of ​​a national or state-wide community. I focus more on community organizations and I think they are more effective. I am convinced that it is important to transfer these small communities to larger places after many conversations with people this year.
