The Presence of Different Elements of Power in the Synagogue as Read in Malory Nye’s Religion: The Basics

To defend and reconcile power to people is considered a process of controlling and guiding nature and human life. As so defined, religion consists of two basic elements. One is theoretical and the other is practiced, that is, belief in power is higher than people. (Hendley, 2006, p. 117) Turckism is regarded as the first form of human religion by Durkheim. Totem is a sacred symbol representing the clan and liturgy it represents, representing their own attribution and unity. Indigenous people in Australia think that it is also called Arunta and is also called North America. Totemism is often associated with the religion of shamanism. Totem is usually an animal or other naturalistic image that spiritually represents a group of related people like clans.

Pfleiderer derives the classification of his religion from the relationship between these basic elements. He unilaterally distinguishes a large group of religions which are very partial. Dependency consciousness is almost monopolistic, religion is an ancient Jew, Egyptian, and Chinese religion. On the contrary, there are early Indian, Germanic, Greek, Roman religions, where freedom is common. The religion of this group can be seen from various viewpoints, such as natural religion, more advanced culture, or humanitarian religion in a more developed culture. The second group of religions showed recognition of two religious elements, but they gave them different values. These religions are known as supernatural religions. Among them, Zoroastrian pays more attention to the godly elements of freedom, and Brahmanism and Buddhism are thought to have stronger dependence.
