The power of the myth is a book based on the 1988 PBS documentary Joseph Campbell and mythical powers. The documentary was originally aired by a six-hour dialogue between mythologist Joseph Campbell (1904-1987) and journalist building moody. It is still one of the most popular series in the history of American public television. The interview of the first five episodes took place at George Lucas' California Skywalker Ranch and the sixth interview took place at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. This is the last two summers of Campbell's life. In these discussions, Campbell published his view on the comparative myth and the continuing role of the myth in human society. I recently had a new obsession about myths. It was caused by an exceptional interview with Joseph Campbell at The Power of Myth. This is a book of human wisdom accumulated for hundreds of years. In Campbell's own estimate, "Myths are infinite in their revelation." A metaphor can reveal more information about our inner landscape than it is sometimes obvious. Even so, at the English literature course, the teacher seriously bothered me to find meanings that once did not exist obviously. I am grateful that I have committed the same crime now. But, as I have seen, the theme of emotional depression is a very common feature of the myth of modern movies.
What is the power of myth? Why do modern myths such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Sand Dunes' trilogy, hacker movies etc. give such powerful and widespread influences to people? Why do they seem to resonate with us? Throughout the history of humanity, why is the mythological story a very important story for each culture, and are these stories highly appreciated? What is the meaning of the myth and what are their meanings and purpose? So, what is myth? The word mythology comes from the Greek word "myth" and means a story. Therefore, myths are stories, but not all stories are myths. Then these stories constitute the myths of the world. Some say that "Myths never happen but always exist." This sentence is from the Roman historian of the 4th century and the mysterious Sallustius.
