In Western Europe's post classical era, the Middle Ages spread between the decline of the Roman Empire and the 15th century. A typical post classic theme dominates. Civilization gradually spread beyond the Mediterranean. A Christian missionary reformed the European people from polytheistic beliefs. Medieval Europe participated in an emerging international community. New tools and crops expanded agricultural production, advanced technology improved manufacturing. Mathematics, science and philosophy are stimulated by new concepts

Throughout the post-classical era Western Europe experienced many commercial and cultural changes. The decline of the Roman Empire was officially referring to the beginning of the post-classical era that began around the 500's and continued till the 15 th century. The post-classic era is divided into two different categories. First, from 500 c.e to 900 c.e shows the recovery period, then two 900 c.e to 1450 c.e can be considered as the subsequent rapid growth period.

Western civilization is difficult to define due to lack of political unity in Western Europe in the classical era because classical Mediterranean people did not directly decide what the "Western" is. But Western European people certainly believe that Christianity is a common element. The rapid spread of universities and trade models is increasingly related to Western Europe. In addition, it is complicated to define western civilization as Europe draws too much from Asian civilizations.

In addition to the great civilization of Asia and North Africa formed in the post-Classic era, Europe also formed two related major civilizations. The Byzantine Empire expanded to Eastern Europe in Western Europe and Southeastern Europe. The other is determined by Catholic influence in Western Europe and Central Europe. The Byzantine Empire is located in the Balkans, Middle East, eastern Mediterranean, maintaining a very high level of political, economic and cultural life between the years 500 AD and 1450 AD. The empire keeps many Romanesque styles, and through most of its orthodox Christian civilization is Eastern Europe, Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia. Catholic Christianity without an empire's center spreads to Western Europe. Two different civilizations were born from different Christian influences
