The Plot of Frankenstein

The novel was published in 1818 and Shelley made a significant change to the new edition in 1831, but the scholars generally believe that the first edition is the best. It was a groundbreaking text of Gothic style, a popular literary style of the 19th century, focusing on the supernatural and dark side of humanity.

In Mary Sherry's novel Frankenstein, the opponent and the hero changed through a story. In the first half of the novel, nature is a hero and people are opponents, but as the plot progresses, nature becomes opponent and is obliged to protect himself by making people the hero. By the end of the novel, two examples of human and nature 's hostile characteristics brought about their inevitable destruction. At the beginning of the novel, Victor or Male is the opponent, of course the leader. Victor 's overwhelming arrogance has allowed him to strive to achieve his goal in every way he needs.
