Muslim of the Osterman Empire. The Ottoman Empire is an Islamic government that started in Anatolia early in the 14th century. Prior to the emergence of the empire, Islam was founded in Anatolia, but during the 14th and 16 th centuries religion expanded with the conquest of the Balkans and the central Hungarian Ottoman Empire. This does not mean that the unity of the population is Muslim. In many parts of the Ottoman Empire, especially the Balkans, Christians make up the majority of the population, even Muslims are majority groups, there are usually non-residents other than Muslims. Unlike some ruler of Western Europe, the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire did not try to strengthen religious unity.
