Works of ancient Greece may be more like opera than modern dramas. To match with its religious function, the theater is supported by the state, and actors are highly appreciated for admission to each of free or nominal individuals. It is the actor who works at the same time. It is a popular artist of male and female, and if the audience throws several coins, it can trade anywhere. In the conquest of Alexander the Great, hot topics, literary comedies and philosophical tragedies became inappropriate. Only one new comedy survived by Menander's Dyskolos was (The Curmudgeon or The Misanthrope, 317 BC). These dramas are similar to episodes and styles of today's television comedy programs. The plot will depend on the complex circumstances, the circumstances surrounding the love, family problems, money and so on. Western drama tradition was born in ancient Greece and Rome. The Greeks began their dramatic exercises and tragic drama around 532 BC. The problem is that Greek culture is inferior to men for women. As a result, the role of women in society is very limited in many ways. Because women are considered "dangerous", they can not go on the stage. Men will play male characters as well as female characters! "Greeks think that it is dangerous to allow a woman to perform in a public place, can mitigate the danger by letting men describe it" (source) How about the Romans? Because the Romans have a similar view of women, we can not enter the stage. But over time the Roman drama began holding some actresses.
Following the Greek theater, the next evolution of the theater took place in Roman times. The Roman Theater is not very creative, as it incorporates many elements of the Greek drama and makes it unique. As many Roman dramas are adapted even for direct reproduction of Greek dramas, their architecture, style, and theme are the same. The biggest difference between the two is that the Romans made the drama more secular. Their drama is not paying attention to religion as much as Greek drama, which means that they pay more attention to aesthetics and drama art. This is where props are widely used to convey different meanings. For example, a black wig is used to indicate that the character is a very young person. The use of props around the theater and exquisite background make them more attractive making it more accessible to the public. This means that the theater is one of the main forms of entertainment in Roman times.
