The Occupy Wall Street Movement

To occupy Wall Street is known for many things. Others call it "first American Internet age movement" (Rushkoff). In a typical case, Occupy Wall Street is a series of protests and demonstrations against the influence of corporate greed for American democracy. Protestors manipulated demonstrations and non-violent demonstrations to express dissatisfaction with the political and economic situation of the United States. This includes the concept of political science that demonstrates power, democracy and defends democracy.

Occupy Wall Street began in 2011 with the aim of challenging companies' greedy and irresponsible financial institutions (Juris). Just as social media began just this time, Juris observes the usefulness of combining social media campaigns with sports protests and continues with recent protests like the #Resist campaign in March. According to Juris, the "Occupy Boston" campaign began with a twitter post by a young lady, calling for public recruitment meetings at Boston Park, 200 people gathered, and soon became international protests (Juris). After reading this article, I compare my research soon. March women's March was the largest protest action in the history of the United States, originally a facebook post. After the presidential election in 2016, Teresa Shook, a retired lawyer from Hawaii, was dissatisfied with the results and called for protests by creating Facebook events.

In autumn 2011, students at the University of California at Berkeley launched their own Wall Street campaign Occupy Cal in a series of protests centered on the sprawl plaza. More than 30 students were arrested during the demonstration and strongly condemned the use of force by the police. When they passed through the crowd, when the night went down, a group of police beat the protesters crowd with batons. Officers beat the wife violently and hit the ground, and Haas was hit by baton several times.
