Fairy tales are often depicted as weak and submissive personality. They are suffering girls, girls who need to be saved from bad stepmothers and witches, and beautiful daughters who need a husband. This obedient and submissive female character appeared in Griselda of Charles Perrault. Grigelda was abused throughout her story of dominating her husband, but he was abused without complaints or protests. Her full obedience to her husband was rewarded when she reunited with her daughter, returned to her power status, and finally gained respect of her husband.
