Noble Lie In Bloom 's second edition of the Plato Republic has many anxious questions. However, what shocked me most was "noble lie". For a variety of reasons, this is quite annoying. Intentionally deceiving someone is immoral and wrong. This idea is completely contrary to Socrates' claim that justice is beneficial. In the discussions between Socrates and Glaucon, they included a way to create ideal cities that divided people into three categories: rulers, helpers and craftsmen.
When Socrates develops his so-called republic city, the so-called fully equitable city, he talks about the need for the ruler to declare the notorious 'noble lies' (414c). A noble lie can be divided into two parts. First, citizens are told that their real parents are the earth, city or city state (414 d). This part of a noble lie is meant to promote the pledge to sell to the city - the loyalty that he is willing to give up even the most intimate (traditional) family relationship. When this noble lie aspect is accepted, citizens regard each other as brothers and sisters, and all of them are associated with a common parent city (the theme of "parent / citizen"). Secondly, citizens are blessed with "metal myths". According to this myth, all citizens are born in one of three souls: gold, silver and copper. As you can imagine, citizen's value and function in a city depends on what kind of soul the person has.
This is an interesting position as the Plato government itself is a lie. It is especially called "noisy lie" or "metal myth". This myth is that all the citizens including the fact that they are said to have their souls and are destined to go to the site to match the corresponding metal at the time of birth. This is a citizen's lie to ensure social order and ensure that everyone is in a social position. The most important thing is that Plato thinks that only 'philosopher's king' has sufficient wisdom to rule the city. It is worth noting that despite having placed them at the top of the hierarchy, they had little money to pay. Wealth is always distributed to Plato society
The aristocratic lie proposed by the aristocrat is a fictitious story called a metal myth or allegory (γενναῖονψεῦδος, gennaion pseudos - literally, "a lie or an erroneous view on the origin"). Among them, Socrates provided the origins of the three social classes that make up the republic proposed by Plato; Socrates talked about socially layered society where people are called "phoenician story": ..... Earth as their mother took over their land as if they were their mothers and their nurses, they considered and protected her from every attack and protected others You should deal with the citizens of the same earth Brothers and children of the same earth ... All of you in the city are brothers, we will talk in the story, but God forms people worthy to master control They mix gold into their generation, so they are most precious - but farmers and other craftsmen's assistants, silver, iron and brass
