Our first exhibition was 08.08.08 - just just ten years ago today! This is the video of the show, we sometimes play this song. Speaking to that, we are about to start news on some exciting shows!
Early this year, we heard good news; the number of wild tigers has increased for the first time in 100 years. Tracking the survival of these tigers is an important part of their protection and researchers use data from GFW to measure forest loss in tiger habitats. Good news - forest loss is far less than expected for all tiger landscapes. But I have bad news. According to the analysis, 98% of the total deforestation in tiger habitats is concentrated in 10 landscapes, and large scale agriculture promotes deforestation. You can read more about it here and you can browse the interactive map here. In these maps, the carefully selected color scheme emphasizes the overlap between forest loss and tiger protection landscape.
In Thailand, tigers live in protected areas. It is understood that there are at least 189 tigers in Thailand. In 2016, Camera Trap found a breeding ground of Indian Sinatra, a very dangerous living in Eastern National Park in Thailand. This is probably due to the recent increase in poaching prevention activities. In Indonesia, the last surviving Sumatran tiger population - the smallest trical species live. In 1978, experts estimated that the number of Sumatran tigers was 1,000. Currently, this number has decreased to 400 people. It is a challenge to measure tigers through Sumatra's dense jungle. This woman's Sumatran tiger was captured by the camera trap at Rimbang Baling-Bukit Tigapuluh Corridor
Tigers are protected species that are endangered species. In some countries it is illegal to consume tigers and it is pointed out that tiger consumption is immoral for endangered animals. Consuming tigers in the United States is illegal, but 60% of the stores in New York City's Chinatown have replied that they have tiger parts in the 2010 survey. In stores in New York's Chinatown there are things that sell Kanako calves and claim to be a tiger's penis to deceive consumers. Due to the high price, tiger's penis is also forged in China and Hong Kong.
