Music in the history of Puerto Rico played an important role as a means of cultural expression. The 5th century music event showed that Puerto Ricans have created, developed and advertised various types including folk music, concert music, and new genres. Music and local musicians in Puerto Rico formed and enriched the identity of the Puerto Rican people and their roots. Puerto Rican music is the ultimate expression of "Areito" (indigenous art) and is a combination of single fashions, oral stories, dance and music.

The formation of music in Africa and Europe had a great influence on Puerto Rican music. It is mainly world famous in the Caribbean. There are various genres in Puerto Rican music such as local genre (decimal number and seis), genre of folk music (salsa, rock, danza, bomba, plain etc). Gazmey was born in Carolina, Puerto Rico on November 27, 1992. His father, José Gazmey, is vice president of Sony Music in Puerto Rico, a friend of rapper Tempo.
