The Most Important Buddhist Sites

As a student who just studied and discovered all Buddhism, it is easy to be surrounded by facts and never feel a relationship with religion. I think that the best way to fully understand something is to experience it yourself. Throughout the semester, I learned about Buddhist values, history, doctrine and practice, but I did not have the opportunity to see and experience these things with my own eyes. India and Nepal have plenty of important Buddhist sites, but I choose four as the location of the most important Buddhists to arrange a trip for me and my classmates.

Pugang is one of the most famous religious places in Myanmar, one of the most important Buddhist places in Southeast Asia. Pugang preserves various historical buildings in Burma's many pagodas and temples Architectural art is typical of the architectural art of ancient Burma. These buildings reflect the wisdom and creativity of the people who work in Myanmar and are valuable historical and cultural heritage of Myanmar. Of course, Pugan is not only a cultural heritage but also a beautiful natural scenery. Here you can enjoy the most beautiful sunrise and sunset in Asia.

Bodhgaya is the most sacred Buddhist place. The UNESCO World Heritage Mahabodi Temple is the most sacred place of worship for Buddhists. Includes Vajrasana and St. Bodhi. The original temple was built by Emperor Ashoka and is considered to be India's largest king. In addition to domestic tourists, thousands of tourists from China, Japan, Thailand and other Buddhist countries visited this sanctuary. NARANDA is a historic site that includes the famous Mahavihara (Buddhist Temple) since ancient times. It is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Chinese famous scholars such as Xuanand and Yijing went to Mahavihara and explained their findings. It once housed students from all over the world.
