Some differences include violent ways and religion. Even though the two most advanced empires appeared in different areas, they shared some common ideas.

At the peak of 1300, the Mali Empire occupied twice the area of the modern France and spread to the west coast of Africa. During the late nineteenth century, during the struggle for Africa, France took control of Mali and made it part of the French sultan. Sultan of France (which was then known as the Republic of Sudan) joined Senegal in 1959 and became a federation of Mali in 1960. Shortly thereafter, after Senegal withdrew from the Commonwealth, the Sudanese Republic declared an independent Mali Republic. After a long-term political party control, the 1991 coup d'etat established a new Constitution, and Mali was established as a democratic multiparty nation.
