In 1978, Deng Xiaoping became the leader of China and started an ambitious economic reform plan. Under the modernization policy of Deng, the state is open to the outside world and encourages foreigners to provide technical information and management knowledge to China. To encourage private enterprises and collective enterprises, new policies require workers with higher skill levels to develop new China. My grandfather Liu Shioo was a model for rural people who had satisfactory job opportunities during the Deng Xiaoping era.

The modernization of China has played an important role in the change of popular culture in China. Along with modernization, Chinese introduced music of various formats and styles, Chinese studied and incorporated their own music. They believe that 'westernization of their music' makes it more modern. By the rise of popular music, means of identity proved emerge, thereby managing the impact on society as a whole.
