The Modern Review on Zhiguai Narratives

During the dynasty of North Korea and the Southern Dynasty, the author wrote several short pieces, including materials or events that they call "strange". There are strange descriptions of wonderful things from foreign countries, magical virtues of magicians and alchemists, and events involving gatherings between people and ghosts. These accounts are called China Zhiguai or 'strange account'. As the most important early example of genre type, "Sou Shen Zhi: brush record" is a legend, short story and rumor about supernatural phenomena such as spirits and ghosts edited in the Chinese language of the 4th century.

The legend of religious aspect can be divided into fang magician, Taoism, Buddhist model. A grotesque collection of six generations, especially the early collections, may be composed by magicians. They are Fang's magicians, fortune-tellers, therapists, and their memories of knowledge and expertise. The choice of a genius primarily of origin of Buddhism and Taoism is made up of people who believe in religious beliefs which are clearly represented by works represented by them. The most obvious are Taoism immortal biography (Xian) and a miracle story of Buddhism. The story belonging to the Taoist model talks about rising, meditating, and autonomy. They are all claims of Taoist authority. They are mainly from common alchemy of immortal cults and popular alchemy

As a legendary type (temporary communication) refers to a fictitious story of classical language that appeared in the Tang Dynasty (618-907 ce) longer than condemnation. The story of Tang Legend is overwhelmed by the curiosity of the transcendent world's transcendence beyond the gods, gods, sacred creatures, or graves. Compared to six generations, the difference between Tang Dynasty is not a supernatural theme of the story but a way to express them. With its unique narrative style and elegant style, the legendary focus is mainly on models of human motivation and humanity. In other words, supernatural things are not so casual now, not arrogant, but become more merciful and familiar in relation to humans. Their empathy lies in people who withdraw from public life or show a tendency to religious life.
