America may become a crucible of culture, but it seems that only other cultures can assimilate. Not only is the tradition of most ethnic groups of my family forgotten, but I do not have any knowledge about cultures other than the United States. I could neither live nor visit outside my country. I do not want to see such a small worldview. Even though I live in Western culture, I do not know how other Western cultures live. As a country, it seems that America is too young to even even understand the world culture.
The United States is widely regarded as a "crucible" of many generations. This country has acquired its status by accepting immigrants from various cultures, shaping and integrating American lifestyles. However, the concept of "Big Melt Pot" in the United States began to fade away. According to a "Newsweek" poll, "Only 20% believe the United States is a crucible" (Morganthau and Wolfberg, paragraph 4). - Edward Albi Zoo Story In Edward Albi's drama "The Tale of the Zoo", Jerry says a strange story that the people he encounters influence on his shallow and sad presence to prove what Albi believes Society is unnecessarily indifferent, unkind, helpless, and empty. To make Peter understand that his life is full of emptiness and shallowness, Jerry tells Peter the lives of some people who were with him.
This view of crucibles is carried out through self-recognition of the United States. We believe that we are immigrants from all over the world. The furnace means that a lot of ingredients are added to the pan, and as a result all mixtures create a new taste or a unique American culture. But that is not the case. Our story is very different. The first permanent pioneer was White Anglo-Saxon Protestant (WASP) from the UK. They created the American culture, after which immigrants followed it. Immigrants bring their own culture and language. Then each country followed a similar story and then studied the generations of mainstream culture, English, adopted the white Anglo-Saxon approach. For example, the largest ethnic group who emigrated to America in the 19th century came from Germany. But what about the Germans in America? We have German restaurant from Germany and Christmas habit. But that's it.
