Marine Corps Memorial On February 19, 1945, five marines and one crew member participated in an event that permanently changed the Marine Corps. There is no doubt that one of the most powerful images of the twentieth century is the rising flag of the Sri Bach mountains of Iwo Jima. The flag raising ceremony captured the courage, dedication and honor that these Marines had when they arrived at the summit. These people just acted according to their instructions, but the Pulitzer Prize-awarded photograph taken by Joe Rosenthal turned this war time into a world-class historical event.

We recognize that Marine Corps colleagues' efforts surpassed the celebration that was born today. For example, on July 12, the US Marine Corps commemorated the 100th anniversary of the DSS at the Sunset Parade held at the Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima Memorial) in Arlington, Virginia. At our 100th anniversary event there are several opportunities to recognize the efforts of brave individuals who have protected diplomats over the past 200 years and have helped to protect US interests.

On 10th November 1775, the Marines were founded by resolutions of the Continental Congress. Since then, thousands of men call the "sea" the "sea". To commemorate them, our Marines should commemorate our troops' birthdays by evoking the glory of their long and glorious history.
