The Many Benefits of High School Debate

My personal literacy skills development is not always easy. Elementary school suffered from dyslexia. In addition, my family moved several times and the new school district taught me to read and write in various ways. Because of these difficulties, elementary school is not as important as most students for the development of my culture. My high school career has more influence in my practice of improving literacy. More specifically, my experience as a member of the high school discussion team has influenced the practice of literacy skills I am using today.

Discussion in Parliament (also known as "parli") is an academic argument. Many university level institutions in English-speaking countries are sponsoring Congressional debates. In addition, this format is now also popular in high school. Despite this name, parli goes beyond the titles of official lecturers such as "Opponent leader" and "prime minister" and has nothing to do with the discussions at the government council. The British Parliament's debate is very common. It is also adopted as the official style of the World University College Debate Championships and the European University Debate Championship Tournament (the speaker has only 15 minutes notice). Talking time is usually 5-7 minutes. The discussion consists of four groups of two speakers, sometimes called factions, and there are two groups on each side of the case.

After recent school shoots at the high school in Florida, there was much discussion and tension between the lawmakers and the students on gun control issues. This shooting is one of them and debate about gun control has been continued for many years, but this time it seems to be more enthusiastic and decisive, especially at schools and campuses throughout the country. I am interested in learning about student opinion on large shooting solution at the University of Colorado campus and finding insights from political and legal experts.
