The Main Issues Facing Middle Schools

Naturally, the main problem faced by secondary schools is consistent with the main problems faced by junior high school students. Bullying is a big problem in neutral schools. Because it causes self isolation, melancholy, aggression, and the students do not want to learn. Also, among junior high school students, there is little assistance from home environment, so it is difficult to stimulate academic achievement. Furthermore, if the balance of physical and emotional development of a child is broken, it may not attract students' attention.

As indicated in the standardized tests, it is difficult for many secondary schools to achieve acceptable scholastic performance throughout the school. This can be a function of at least two factors. First of all, some students may have difficulty due to lack of family support and unidentified learning disabilities. Second, junior high school students do not necessarily recognize the value of education, there is no motivation or separation in the process of learning.

Secondary schools are affected by student emotional or self-esteem problems. Junior high school students are cruel to each other and even engage in bullying. Self-esteem is low, so junior high school students have sometimes struggling socially and it may be difficult to make friends. They may elect to cease social activities without participating in school activities. This is very isolated and may hinder the development of social skills.

Secondary schools are influenced by student growth heterogeneity and growth speed. Some students begin to develop physically but still show immature behavior; for the others, the opposite is true. If you are too fast or too late, junior high school students may be embarrassed. The beginning of puberty and the development of secondary sex characteristics may cause emotional problems for students and prevent students from maintaining academic focus.

Secondary schools must rely heavily on parents' support to help students participate in the learning process. However, when a student enters junior high school, parents become less involved in school education. Parents of junior high school must encourage their students to develop their academic potential and to plant their desire for education. Some junior high school students do not do homework assignments, read stories of events of the day, discussions etc.

We organized a focus group of junior high school administrators and faculty members from all over the country who asked us to identify the most important problems faced by the sixth grade students facing when switching from elementary to junior high school. We will introduce top 10 questions and some ideas to enable students to manage all these new experiences. Final idea: Assist students in a structured and meaningful way, run asset based programs, prepare students for tasks, and celebrate the unique experience of secondary schools.
