Robert L. Bo, a resident of Arkansas' spa county, joined the King's 22nd Arkansas Infantry Regiment on Little Rock on March 1, 1862. The organization was dispatched to the east of the Mississippi River shortly after its formation, its name was changed to the 20th Arkansas Infantry Regiment. On June 26, 1862, the boy died near Ripley, Missouri. In 1861, John F. Hill, a resident of Clarksville, Arkansas, founded a male company to serve in the 16th Arkansas Infantry Regiment. Hill was elected colonel of the regiment in December 1861. He resigned from the committee in May of 1862 and returned to Arkansas. Hill later instructed the 7th Arkansas Cavalry Regiment to participate in the Camden Adventure and Missouri price attack.
