Life of Nelle Harper Lee Nelle Harper Lee was born in Amasa Coleman Lee and Frances Finch Lee on Monroeville, Alabama on April 28, 1926. Together with her brothers and sisters Alice, Louise and Edwin, Harper was educated at the Monroeville public school and then went to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama.
