According to Becky Bradley in the history of American culture, Langston Hughes was born in Joplin, Missouri on February 1, 1902. When he grew up, he worked on several difficult times. His parents divorced when he was a child, and he grew up with his parents. Hughes was brought up by her grandmother because my father moved to Mexico after divorce and my mother moved to Illinois. James Langston Hughes, born in Joplin, Missouri, is a member of the abolished family. In 1855, he was the grandson of Charles Henry Langston, brother of John Mercer Langston, the first black Americans elected for public service. Hughes went to central high school in Cleveland, Ohio but began writing poetry. The eighth grade was elected as a poet of the class. His father could not write as a student and encouraged him to pursue a more realistic career. Hughes learned engineering at Columbia University but lost interest and continued to develop poetry. His first published poem is his most famous "Black River" and appeared in Brownie's book.
