The Library of Congress

Even if 50 years have passed since the facts occurred, the Vietnam War is still part of the public consciousness. For veterans serving this era, this conflict has special meaning. Each of these veterans experienced a unique and distinctive approach to warfare; the two stories are not the same. Veteran Tom Hegel explained as follows. "When thinking about war - whether it is a Vietnam War or another War - we all think it is a theme ... but there are millions of Vietnam wars."

In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War, the Veterans History Project highlights the collection collection from this era. They are only a part of the "Millions of Vietnam War" that is embodied in Vietnamese veteran stories. These interviews represent various branches, service locations, and military roles and generally indicate the dramatic and ongoing impact of war on participants.
