The Legend of Narcissus

In Greek mythology, the root of "narcissism" comes from the legend of a daffodil, a young man who is considered to be very handsome. Nymph named Echo has a strong interest in Daffodils, but he thinks he can react to her and other people. At last she gave up on herself. Then Denzen was cursed (Wall & Loewenthal, 1998) because he completely absorbed himself and fell in love with his own shadow from the pool, so he was cursed. Havelock Ellis (1898) first developed the concept of narcissism into a psychological structure and mentioned excessive masturbation of people as sexual objects.

The word narcissism was born more than 2,000 years ago when Ovid wrote the legend of Narcissus. He told the story of a beautiful Greek hunter, one day, I saw that he reflected in the pool accidentally and I fell in love with it. He got stuck in the beauty and could not leave reflections before he died. After his death, Narcissus grew up where he was lying. However, if individuals concentrate on themselves, respecting others and needing approval too much, narcissism becomes a problem while neglecting the sensitivity of others. If narcissist does not attract the attention he needs, it leads to substance abuse and major depression.

In the ancient Greek legend, a beautiful boy narcissus fell in love with his reflections in the pool, he drowned that he fell into the water. This story provides the concept of contemporary narcissism mythical sources, excessive self-love and the accompanying sensations of exaggeration and rights. Very self-euphoric people always try to attract people's attention. Repetition, excessive self-reference is a distinguishing feature of their personality

Greek myths talk to us similar things, but in that version, young people are always sentenced to waste their self-worship. I am referring to the legend of Narcissus. He is the perfect young man, loved by fairies. Fairy, Echo loved him deeply, but he declined himself to be rude. The gods punished him by ensuring that he also experienced unparalleled love. One day, Narcissus saw his image on the clear mountain pool and fell in love with it. He can not tear myself from the mirror, he walks away very slowly and dies.

In the dolphins of Greek myths, this fateful chap boy fell in love with his own image at the lake. However, the Persian version of this myth sneaked into the lake. Because he could not swim, he took all the danger to unite with his beloved. When he drowned, two beautiful daffodils appeared in the lake. These flowers are his eyes and they regard life as reflection of themselves. In their happiness, they exude the most fragrance of heaven.
