The Kemper Case and Travis Hirschi’s Social Bond Theory

According to the Uniform Crime Report of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, all institutions in the United States reported an estimated 14,827 murders and non-genocidal crimes in 2012. Murder and non-massacre is defined as "intentional (non-slanderous) killing of others". It increased 1% from 2011 to 2012. However, it is worth noting that this is 9% lower than 2008, 10.3% less than the number of homicides in 2003.

In this article, I first explain what social control theory is and explain how Hirsch develops his theory of "social connection", and further develop his theory and Gotfreddson's "general crime Theory. Before I propose my own conclusion, I will discuss the criticism of these two theories and consider his theory, including reasons that are still relevant in today's society. Control theory uses a different method from other previous theories. After summarizing the label theory, considering its effectiveness in considering juvenile crime and antisocial behavior in contemporary British society. Label theory is how labels are applied to individuals affecting lifestyle and how social response to this label affects individuals. The social control theory was developed by Travis Hirschi in 1969. It is also known as social bond theory. Under the theory of social control, individuals are illegal due to the collapse of social relations. In addition, Hirschi refers to the four elements that make up social relationships. When one of these four projects is broken, Hirschi assumes that the individual may subsequently participate in criminal activity. For example, if a person is no longer involved in typical social behavior (participation) or contact with other people (accessories), people may have time to participate in abnormal criminal activity.
