Mozambique is a small country in East Africa. However, its size has nothing to do with many problems occurring in the country since the 1980s. According to the World Bank, these issues include a relatively long civil war that accounts for nearly one-third of the population of Mozambique, Mozambique is the poorest country in the world. Apart from these problems, we can still resolve human rights violations that are still occurring. The major problem faced by the citizens of Mozambique is that they do not know the right as a citizen and they should know how to cause problems.
The purpose of our research is to better understand Mozambique's illiteracy situation, such as Mozambique's high illiteracy rate, gender issues, solutions to reduce illiteracy rate. Illiteracy is defined as not readable / writable. Our research area mainly focuses on Mozambique. Mozambique is one of a billion countries. I also hope that this research will increase awareness of the importance of education in all countries. The sampling method we used throughout the study was intentional sampling and snowball sampling. Questionnaire consisting of nine questions was sent to 30 respondents from Mozambique. They are full time students of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). Everyone answers the question in 15 minutes. Our research is a small scale study focusing only on UTP Mozambique students.
My journey began in Mozambique, which took about two weeks. Located in the southeastern part of the continent of Africa, Mozambique has people living in Bantu throughout this region. The major ethnic groups of the country are Shangaan, Shona and Sena. Mozambique is a long country bordering Tanzania in the north, South Africa in the south and the border with the western border with Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia. I spent most of the time in the northern part of the country and in the capital Maputo.
