However, on 4th November 1979, a radical group of students seized the American embassy in Tehran, Iran. This completely changed the process of the relationship between American history and the Middle East. This crisis had a major impact on the United States. It caused an energy crisis that led to a recession in 1979. The hostage crisis in Iran also caused political influence on President Carter.
