Kathleen R. Arnold clearly stated in her article "The New Working Class of the United States of America" that welfare / labor welfare recipients are considered prisoners or second-class citizens. Likewise, at Michelle Alexander's article "New Jim Raven" she explains how blacks are being criminalized by the criminal justice system corrupted. Alexander also pointed out that detention and chain are not the only form of slavery in her article "New Jim Raven". In addition, Alexander stated that the United States is considered a free home, but blacks are more likely to be arrested than others, unemployed or denied housing.
Ironically, the life of a bird in a cage is the life of an African American. From the 19th century to the early 20th century, the black population was tortured and enslaved by white people. African Americans are disliked by disgust and inequality. As Caucasians had all the power and wealth of America, Caucasians forced them to make them black slaves; hence black groups had no choice but to be enslaved. African Americans have no chance to succeed. Essentially, African-Americans are prisoners of their own house, like cages birds.
By the turn of the 20th century, the status of African Americans was quite dark. Even outside the South, racial inequality is a fact in everyday life. African-American leaders and thinkers themselves are opposed to going on the right path. People like Booker T. Washington, until accepting inequality and racial discrimination in a short period of time, whites are forced to recognize equally, African Americans have their own education and social status I believe that you will be able to focus on improving. However, W. E. B. Du Bois proposed a more confrontational approach and established the National Color Association for Promotion of People (NAACP) as a base to secure equality in 1909. Liberal white people dominated the organization in the early days, but African Americans dominated their activities in the 1920s.
