Skeletal muscle plays a major role in how our body functions. Because without our bones our bones do not fit properly. Most of muscle tissue in the body is skeletal muscle. It interacts with the bone to move parts of the body. It is very long, thin cells are called fibers, and they have multiple cell nuclei. Those structures give them a striped appearance. Muscles are considered voluntary. In other words, shrinkage can be suppressed. Skeletal muscle contains a bundle of muscle cells.

The three kinds of human muscles are myocardium, smooth muscle, skeletal muscle. Skeletal muscle occupies about 40% of body weight. However, skeletal muscle is the only voluntary muscle type. This means that you must first tell your brain to send a message and do it something, and then your brain tells your body what to do (Kimball) The structure of skeletal muscle is not common to many other cells in the body. For example, myocytes are multinucleated. That is, there are multiple cores. For muscle cells, the terms fiber and cell are used interchangeably. Since the muscle fibers are not single cells, these parts have different names. Muscle cells seen from the microscope have a very unique shape. They seem to be slender (Kimball). The outermost layer of muscle is the adventitia. According to the definition of the NDI Foundation, this is a fibrous sheath around the entire muscle.

There are about 640 skeletal muscles in the human body (see the list of human muscles). Contrary to the general idea, the number of muscle fibers can not be increased by exercise; on the contrary, myocytes become larger.
