The Importance of the Missions to the Military in California During the 19th Century

One of the most unrecognized things is how important is the mission of the 19th century California army. The support of the California army during Spain during the Mexican Revolution was barely endorsed, and since Mexico got more support after getting independence from Spain in 1821. Over 50 years, at least 20 missions and 4 fortresses were built along the California coast called Presidio.
