The main lipid components of cell membranes are sphingolipids, cholesterol and other phospholipids. The most important element in the sphingolipid molecule in the cell membrane is sphingomyelin, which consists of a hydrophilic phosphocholine head group and a highly hydrophobic ceramide molecule. The ceramide group in sphingomyelin consists of amide ester of sphingoid base D-erythro-sphingosine and C 16 -C 26 chain length fatty acid. The strong interaction between the cholesterol sterol ring structure and the sphingomyelin ceramide molecule promotes the horizontal binding of sphingolipids to cholesterol, promoted by hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic vans.
Sphingolipids are compounds composed of lipids and sphingosine (see page 4). It is present in high concentrations in the brain and other tissues of the nervous system, especially the membrane. The most important of these lipids is sphingomyelin. This is a group of lipids containing lipids. It mainly occurs in nervous system tissues, usually membranes, in blood lipids. Another type of sphingolipid is cerebroside, which is also glycolipid (Cooper). In the body, fat is the most concentrated energy source (Marieb). They contain very little water and the energy produced by fat catabolism is about twice the energy obtained from glucose (the simplest sugar) or proteolysis. The main fat is triglycerides, esters of 3 fatty acids and glycerol
Polyunsaturated fatty acids are very important and can be the most important fatty acids among all the fats. The reason is that they are essential fatty acids. Essential fatty acids can only be obtained from meals. They are needed by the body to achieve optimal health and inappropriate intake of essential fatty acids may result in impaired brain function and disease. EFA is composed of omega-3 fatty acids, and three omega-3 fatty acids are important for fetal and postnatal brain development. DHA is necessary for eye development. They are involved in the synthesis and function of neurotransmitters in the brain. They synthesize immune system molecules. And it is necessary for optimum health.
