We live in a culture that is afraid of each other, hating each other, even even killing each other. Before we get to this place, how bad is it in our culture before we stop seeing what we are making in this culture. I believe that the important part of the answer to this question lies in the family. I know that there are many excellent single parents in our culture, but I would like to focus on traditional families when writing this article. When we look at the definition of a traditional family, we can see that it is a basic social unit consisting of parents and their children.

Abstract This article examines American traditions and how they are built and preserved. Specifically, discuss the traditional meetings called family, class and school reunion, and consider ways to enhance social networks. I remind the reader about the role of reunion in permanent memory and collective knowledge transmission. The number of family reunion is thought to have decreased in the 1990s, but it is recovering (Baxter, 2005); this is thought to be caused by social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace.

Family reunion is an important ceremony that has long contributed to the survival, health, and endurance of African-American families, and it helps protect cultural heritage even in times of uncertainty and confusion. African-Americans are currently holding family reunions, but there are still some important elements still.
