At government agencies, regular meetings are held and the main influences of policies and related policy bodies are strictly considered. These conferences are usually led by senior management. One of the main goals of the government is to manage the resources of the country. In doing so, many policies were developed to achieve the agenda. As the agenda is prepared, agencies must provide it to ensure that the goal is achieved. Therefore, a regular management meeting is held to monitor the performance of the delivery system.
In the last article, I wrote about the importance of the manager being required to frequently meet directly (ie 1: 1). Likewise, important conference managers need to participate in professional dialogue through direct reporting. These meetings are an opportunity to help manager direct subordinates reflect their career and development trajectory and help identify the career goals and identify opportunities to achieve them. When I was in charge of Instagram's research, I first started a professional conversation with my immediate subordinate. Rodrigo Schmidt and Peter Deng have developed a professional dialog frame adopted by many administrators. I adjusted the framework based on my experience and feedback from past reports.
As a good combination of administrator and peer administrator, I learned a lot about not doing as an administrator (and some to-dos). The first lesson is most important: your promotion depends on your work (not your administrative skill). By taking a managerial position, you will invest in the responsibility of becoming a good manager. Actively understand your people: dealing with humans like humans will give you a wonderful life both inside and outside of the office. Do not become one-on-one at the office. Your staff should ride the emotional roller coaster once a week, introduce the crisis briefly, and do not tell the schedule summary etc for 30 minutes. Do not busy, talk, drink coffee, drink a team. Personalize people through aggressive volunteers
Please consider the level of importance of the meeting. Is this a regular meeting such as a monthly employee renewal meeting? Taking into account the importance and level of group participation will help to develop clear and concise agenda. The time frame of the agenda should be reasonable. If the meeting's scheduled time is too short all efforts to communicate good skills will be lost. The agenda should explain the object briefly. Management team or meeting planner must be able to obtain expected results and identify obstacles that may interfere with effective meetings. Understanding possible obstacles allows you to prepare the best communication methods in advance and reconfirm your goals.
