The impact of the Great Depression on Blacks The collapse of the stock market in October 1929 was a precursor to the Great Depression. For many people this is a tough and sad time. America 's morale is low, money and food are scarce. But poverty and despair are not strangers for black Americans, poverty has spread since being imprisoned. For many black people living in the south, this is the return of the past. Tenant farmers and farm workers are constantly living in conflict; they can not live a decent life.

A lot of research is now being done on the study of the Great Depression from 1929 to 1941 and its impact on the lives of the United States and millions of Americans. Economists, politicians and social scientists continue looking for "black boxes" that can help identify the cause of the disaster. Therefore, Alan Reynolds (1979, p. 1416) insists that the fear of the Great Depression is mainly due to a lack of clear explanation. People believe that a serious economic slowdown can still occur at any time: there is no warning or reason. Today, this fear is often used as the main reason the government intervenes in the economic field with nearly unlimited restrictions. Therefore, today's many scientists also take a position to criticize market capitalism and support the authoritative economically destructive policy.

Most Americans are familiar with the economic disaster of the Great Depression, which also affects American family life. Because of the Great Depression, there was a big difference in the class. The middle class and the lower class have undergone major changes, but the lifestyle of the upper class has not changed so much. (Simons 41) As job opportunities decrease, the role of the father as head of household becomes more difficult. Expectation is a family whose father works and supports them. The reality of the lower class is a salary that most people do not bring home. Some fathers feel uneasy because they can not support their families and feel worthless. Many people steal food and money just to survive. (Simons 41)
