To answer these questions, we have to look at the Spanish history and their colonization in Puerto Rico. To our knowledge, Puerto Rico was a Spanish colony "discovered" by Christopher Columbus on November 19, 1493 and remained a Spanish colony for the next 400 years. But the interesting fact is that Puerto Rico was not really resolved by the Spaniard until nearly 15 years passed.

Today, Puerto Rico has developed some of its own social conventions, cultural matrices, historical roots, and proprietary pronunciation, vocabulary, and idioms in Spanish, known as Puerto Rican Spanish. Even after Puerto Rico tried to assimilate to America in the early 20th century, most Puerto Ricans proud their nationality for "Puerto Rico" regardless of their ethnic, ethnic, political or economic background I thought. Many Puerto Ricans consciously recognize the rich contribution of all the cultures of the island. This diversity can be seen in many Puerto Rican lifestyles, including the deep influences of food, music, dance, and Latin, African, and Tilean to architecture.

Puerto Rican cuisine is influenced by various cultures including Taino Arawak, Spain, Africa, and the United States. The Puerto Rican cuisine is somewhat similar to Spanish food and other Latin American cuisine, but it is a unique and tasty blend using soil seasonings and ingredients. Local people call their cuisine cocina criolla. By the end of the nineteenth century, traditional Puerto Rican cuisine was established. By 1848, the first restaurant La Mallorquina opened in Old San Juan. The first recipe of the island, ElCocinero Puertorriqueño, was published in 1849. On November 1, 2004, the book "Puerto Rico: Caribbean dish" was published in Spanish and English. The cookbook is that Puerto Rico's rich cuisine and chef are old and sharing new recipes. This book includes not only the local chefs of Puerto Rico but also chefs from all over the world called "the capital of the Caribbean cuisine" which is influenced by the cuisine of Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico has been the territory of the United States since 1898 (read: colony), in 1917 the Puerto Rican acquire American citizenship through the Congressional Act. However, the Puerto Ricans who live in Puerto Rico do not enjoy the full benefit of becoming a US citizen. For example, Puerto Rico's funds declined by 38% despite paying the same level health insurance tax as the other 50 states. People living in Puerto Rico can not vote for the President of the United States (but they can vote for the president's primary) and they are not voting in Congress.
