The impact of social networking sites may argue that individuals may be more introverted due to lack of direct social connections. As suggested by Royal College of Medicine (Sigman, 2009), "social networks are recommending us to ignore social networks formed in our non-virtual community." But as Lewis & West (2009) discovered, Facebook seems to have the opposite effect, and personally encourages it to be more social in a sense. Communicate with more than one person to reply to me
MIT researcher Sherry Turkle writes a number of articles on the influence of social media on interpersonal relationships, but in theory they are actually weakening the relationship. In her book alone, why do we expect more technology and less technology? She documented some of the negative influences of constant technology chains. Some people think over-use of social networks is only the latest form of "Internet addiction", a phenomenon that began when the use of the Internet began in the 1990s. Nonetheless, people thought that using a large amount of the Internet could reduce the performance of people in work, school, and family relationships.
Social media may adversely affect youth social skills, but in reality it may also have a positive impact on peer relationships. For many people it is often difficult for young people to be in the stages of stress, learning and confusion. A strong relationship between friends is how most teenagers deal with stress. Using social media and keeping in touch with friends will have a positive impact on peer relationships. "Quality friendship can be a powerful buffer for puberty stressors and teenagers with high quality friendship are happier than teenagers who do not have such friendship" (Falkenburg). Through the use and connection of social media, young people can build strong relationships with colleagues and help them cope with stress. This research shows that it is ineffective to make new friends using social skills in social media.
