Abstract: Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary defines the heart as the "myocardium that maintains blood circulation". It is divided into 4 rooms, 2 atria and 2 ventricles. The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs. From there the blood enters the left ventricle and forces it through the aorta and through the artery to the body tissue. The right atrium receives the blood after passing through the tissue and throws out most oxygen.
