The purpose of this article is to describe the overall assessment of a 66-year-old male patient who was admitted to a hospital for intestinal surgery after diagnosis of a cancerous tumor. This procedure will remove a portion of the patient's intestine, after which the patient will need a colostomy pocket to remove feces (see patient profile in Appendix 1 for further details).
