The History of Puerto Ricans' Migration to the United States

The history of immigration to America to Puerto Rico has moved to America for centuries. For many years, people from all over the world have dreamed about living in the US, and many foreigners believe that the United States is a place of opportunity. Because there are so many ethnic groups in the United States, it has been called the crucible of the world. It is not easy for Puerto Ricans to immigrate to America. Puerto Ricans face discrimination in many US industries.

Because the island is a territory of the United States, it is legal immigration to Puerto Rico, the US, Puerto Rico. Therefore, Puerto Ricans who immigrate to the mainland are American citizens, so they are not international immigrants. As my country is not a sovereign state, in processes that do not cross the border, Puerto Ricans to the mainland, the territory of the United States (J. Duany, 2002). They allow them to move to the US without a passport or visa and return to their island country after their taste and seasonal work ("Puerto Rico", 1998). Puerto Rico has been the territory of the United States since 1898 (read: colony), in 1917 the Puerto Rican acquire American citizenship through the Congressional Act. However, the Puerto Ricans who live in Puerto Rico do not enjoy the full benefit of becoming a US citizen. For example, Puerto Rico's funds declined by 38% despite paying the same level health insurance tax as the other 50 states. People living in Puerto Rico can not vote for the President of the United States (but they can vote for the president's primary) and they are not voting in Congress.
