George Lucas's "Star Wars" story is a contemporary example of a "hero's journey". Indeed, Campbell accepted an interview with PBS many years ago, where he discussed Lucas' template to use heroes in Star Wars movies. Today I read "The Preface of the 1949 Edition" in Campbell's book. It quotes Sigmund Freud. Basically he says that the truth is buried in religion, that religion distorts and hides the truth. Under this quote Campbell said that the purpose of his book is to reveal the truth of camouflage in religion and myth. I have not started writing this book yet, but please tell me where Campbell and Freud are wrong.
