The Heart of Darkness

"The heart of darkness" is a novel of terrible fear and action that is not in the hearts of mankind. It explains the person (Maluo) who is sailing in the river in West Africa and finds a person named Kurz. The real trip went to "the center of the darkness" where Marlow really passed the evidence of insults against European locals. He wants to see this land for himself. This story implies fear that Marlow can not explain and allows the reader to imagine the behavior outside of normal daily life.

The dark heart of Joseph Conrad, written in the late 19th century, is a novel about a man entering the Congo Free State through the Congo River. The title "Heart of Darkness" actually has two different meanings. The dark heart is a metaphor of 'dark side' of human psychology, it is also a hint of Africa. Headings indicate physical and spiritual references. Africa was called the Dark Continent because the Europeans little knew during the novel period.

Although post colonialism is a theory similar to cultural research, it is based on its own literary and political viewpoint and it is necessary to examine and analyze them separately. Postcolonial criticism focuses on power, economics, politics, religion, and culture issues, and how these elements are related to colonial hegemony in the text. This form of criticism can be applied to many literary works, especially works based in Africa and the Middle East.
