People are separated and recombined, people quarrel and settle. Likewise, Christianity has separate reunions, controversies, and reconciliation. Christianity began as a whole, after which various factors gradually led to the division of the Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church. Among these factors are different understandings on Christianity, different perspectives on the authority of the Pope, and different perspectives over the church.
The division of the East and the West was often called the large division, separated from the Church of the Chalcedonia, later known as the Orthodox Church and the Catholic Church. The main reason for this division has been established for centuries, mainly because the difference between West Latin culture and Greek culture of the Byzantine empire has grown. This caused a change in relations, people of the Byzantine empire lacked to think about people in the Latin Christian world. This also affects the theology of each church, and the differences cause conflicts. One of the main reasons for the division was the authority of the Pope and the claim of "Philippeak". Orthodox believes that the 28th canon of the Chalcedon committee declared equal bishops of Rome and Constantinople bishops equal. All of these and many other differences are essentially the cause divided into two branches.
In 1054, a major division between the Roman pontiff (known as the Roman Catholic Church) and the Latin church to the east of Constantinople (known as Orthodox Church) took place. In order to find a way to rebuild the Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church, Pope Gregory X summoned the second council of Lyon to be held on May 1, 1274 and invited Thomas to attend. At the meeting Thomas for the Papacy IV on the Greek work against the wrong graecorum will be submitted
In 1054, the church divided into two, divided into the east and the west. The Western European Church following the Pope is known as the Roman Catholic Church The church in other parts of the world believes that the Pope should lead all Christians. Orthodox churches are called "orthodox churches". And the teachings of the Roman Catholics, the next big rift is Protestant reform, Protestantism resisted the central authority of the Roman church and rejected many practices, creeds, and discipline. European politics, many countries backed Luther, the Lutheran church began, after which the Calvinist and the Presbyterian began.
