"The Grapes of Wrath" is a novel published in 1939 by John Steinbeck, who received the Pulitzer Prize and the Nobel Prize for Literature. Steinbeck wrote "Anger Grapes" at his house, 16250 Greenwood Lane, and now Monte Sereno in California. During the Great Depression, the novel focused on poor tenant families whose hometowns were driven out of their homes due to drought, economic difficulties and changes in the agricultural industry. In an almost desperate situation, they departed for the Central Valley in California and thousands of "good ones" and found land, work, and dignity.
