Lois Lowry novel The Giver is an eternal story that shows the importance of personality. The novel is about a small boy named Jonas who was elected as a "memory recipient", the memory of the world that existed before their present society and identity. There is no individualism in this society. People can not choose marriage partners or choose what to make a living. As time went on, Jonas became smarter and I realized that there are actually some very dark and negative aspects in the so-called perfect community. Author, Lois Lowry is a 76-year-old writer focused on helping troubled teenagers become individuals. Lori is a very tragic childhood. After the parents were separated and killed in the war she was destroyed and the only way that she could forget all the terrible things that took while stopping was a book. (Lori)
