The Geological Society

Earth Science Week is an annual international celebration of geology around us. Through public events such as groups, personal activities, dialogue, release dates, organizations and individuals aim to increase the awareness of the public of geology and how it will affect our lives. Coordinated by the American Geoscience Institute and the London Geological Society in the UK and Ireland this week will be held in more and more countries all over the world.

This year's Earth Science Week in the UK and Ireland will be held from 13th to 21st October 2018 in the theme "Earth science in the earth". In commemoration of the resource year of geological and society, we emphasize how geology influences our lives through our homes and their everyday objects, wealth, products and services.

Anyone can participate in this year's photo competition without entry fee or qualification restriction. 2019 Earn the opportunity to participate in Earth Science Week's calendar.

We hope more geologists to attend school seminars - if you have ideas, let us know or check our educational resources for some inspiration please. Or may I apply for the geological STEM Ambassador? Teachers can ask the STEM Ambassador of Geology to come to school and open lectures and seminars during the Earth Science Week.

The topics you can ask include: rock and mineral use, energy, how we get metal from the ground, water circulation, mineral properties and identification ... whatever you like! If you are a school or university you are interested in geologists, please contact us!
