Many species of this layer are identical to the species of the Taratin layer. The lower part contains fossils of the New Scotland era, located on Beck Pond's slate and limestone lentils. Perkins (1925, p. 375) quoted the Silurian fossil Monograptus formed by Seboomook, but the specimen is misplaced and the author has not received any additional material. The formation of a mountain of hardwoods in the late Silurian period seems to restrict the lower range of formation of the Silurian, but part of it is the Silurian
